For many, it's a fun new way to mix up their sex life – but is it really worth the risk?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Many claim that it has spiced up their sex life and relationship, and that they can get turned on by the idea of being spotted by passers by.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But others have pointed out that there are strict rules and regulations when it comes to getting jiggy in public and that it could come at a high price \u2013 or even arrest.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Not to mention, countless couples have been caught in the act and left seriously red-faced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So, here we chart the dos and don\u2019ts of engaging in sexual activity outside \u2013 plus what the eyes of the law say about the controversial subject.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The big question might be whether it\u2019s safe to have sex outdoors \u2013 but the answer is a lot more complicated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just like with indoors, there\u2019s lots of different things that could be considered a risk and it depends whether you're in a park, car or hot tub.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But international educator Kenneth Play told Insidehook.com that there are some rules that are the same wherever you are.<\/p>\n
He explained: \u201cBeware of the usual things you would when having a picnic outdoors.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The website continues that this includes everything from bugs to poisonous plants.\u00a0<\/p>\n But, above all, it\u2019s privacy that should be at the forefront of people\u2019s minds.<\/p>\n Laura Borichevsky, founder and host of Sex Outside, a podcast about \u2013 rather aptly \u2013 having sex outside, also gave her hot take to the website.\u00a0<\/p>\n She explained: \u201cLook for a spot that has the right amount of privacy that will make you and any partners you might be with feel safe and comfortable.<\/p>\n \u201cThis includes being out of sight of trails and campsites, too, as other folks around you haven\u2019t consented to being witness to someone else having sex.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, it\u2019s important to consider the legal repercussions of your actions on stripping off while getting hot and heavy where there could be prying eyes\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n The subject of sex outdoors is a tough one, as while it\u2019s not always considered illegal, there are a number of laws in place that directly relate to it and could land you in trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n For instance, the Sexual Offences Act of 2003 states that indecent exposure could be recognised as a type of sexual crime.<\/p>\n Therefore, if a person is seen to be displaying intimate parts of themselves while in public, they are at risk of finding themselves in hot water.\u00a0<\/p>\n The same act defines sexual activity in a public lavatory <\/strong>as a crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n While punishments may vary from scenario to scenario, most offences are punished with a caution or fines.<\/p>\n But in the extrme circumstances, if you receive a charge for indecent exposure you could be placed on the Sex Offenders Register.\u00a0<\/p>\n It is unlikely that the police would take no action or let you off with a verbal warning.\u00a0<\/p>\n As mentioned, while the act of having sex outside is not strictly prohibited, there are instances when it can lead to arrest.\u00a0<\/p>\n According to The Bristol Post, a spokesperson from Avon and Somerset police said: \u201cHaving sex outdoors is not specifically illegal.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, anyone having sex in public could be arrested for exposure under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and for the common law offence of outraging public decency.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/toys-1.jpg\")
