A POPULAR tourist attraction in Italy is set to reopen after being closed to the public for more than 10 years. <\/p>\n

The Italian Riviera is home to colourful buildings, stunning beaches, and crystal-clear waters.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Via dell\u2019Amore in Italy's Cinque Terre (a group of five towns along the Italian Riviera) will reopen next<\/span> year. <\/p>\n

The one-kilometre walking trail previously connected the towns of Riomaggiore and Manarola. <\/p>\n

After the route first opened to tourists in 1931, it became popular with holidaymakers thanks to its picturesque views and flat path. <\/p>\n

But after a landslide in September 2012, Via dell\u2019Amore, which is also known as Lovers' Lane, closed to the public. <\/p>\n

Despite more damage over the years, the route has since been restored to its former glory.<\/p>\n

According to the New Zealand Herald, the\u00a0UNESCO World Heritage Site is set to reopen in July 2024, if the restoration work is complete. <\/p>\n

A section of the path reopened earlier this year, as part of a three-month trial, but visitors need to be booked on a guided tour to walk the partial route. <\/p>\n

Tickets cost \u20ac5 (\u00a34.32), and must be purchased in advance online. <\/p>\n

Another free walking route in the Cinque Terre is Via Beccara, which runs between Manarola and Riomaggiore. <\/p>\n

Via Beccara is described as a "challenging" 1.5km trail that should only be attempted by tourists who are in "a very good physical condition". <\/p>\n

Those Brits who are holidaying in the Italian Riviera can also purchase the Cinque Terre Trekking Card. <\/p>\n

The card provides access to the walking trails that run between Monterosso to Vernazza and Vernazza to Corniglia. <\/p>\n

Tickets for a one-day pass cost \u20ac7.50 (\u00a36.49), while a two-day pass costs \u20ac14.50 (\u00a312.54). <\/p>\n

The five towns that form the Cinque Terre (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore) also inspired the landscapes and settings in the hit\u00a0Disney film Luca.<\/p>\n

While some popular tourist attractions in Italy are re-opening, others are slashing visitor numbers. <\/p>\n

One of those places is Villa del Balbianello, in Lombardy. <\/p>\n

Set on the shores of the luxurious\u00a0Lake Como\u00a0in northern Italy, the popular Villa is significantly cutting the number of tourists who can visit each day from 2,000 to 1,200.<\/p>\n

The elegant 18th-century mansion featured in\u00a0films like Casino Royale\u00a0and\u00a0Star Wars:\u00a0Attack of the Clones. <\/p>\n

Because it draws in tourists from far and wide, reducing the number of visitors was "a drastic decision", according to the FAI, the Italian equivalent of The National Trust.<\/p>\n
