A 26-year-old Brit who vanished while working at an Israeli music festival has been confirmed dead.<\/p>\n
Jake Marlowe vanished on Saturday (October 7) during the Hamas attacks while at the Nova Music Festival. His mother has now confirmed he has sadly died.<\/p>\n
Jake\u2019s parents Lisa and Micheal took to Facebook today (Wednesday, October 11) to share the loss of their son. In a post, they described the loss as \u201ccrushing\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail, the post read: \u201cWe are heartbroken to have to inform you the crushing news that our son Jake has been confirmed dead in Southern Israel. Repatriation plans are being put in place, more information will follow.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added that their son had not been reachable since Saturday morning. Jake was working as a member of the security team at the festival near the Israeli border with Gaza.<\/p>\n
His last message was to his mother to tell her that rockets were flying over the festival.<\/p>\n
It is understood that at least 260 people were killed in the attack.<\/p>\n
Some civilians have been captured by the organisation, who are recognised as a terror group by the UK, when they stormed the site. According to reports several people were shot when they attempted to flee the fighters.<\/p>\n

Before that, Lisa received a call to tell her that the festival was under attack. According to the Independent Jake also sent a voice note stating he was trying to get people to safety.<\/p>\n
The voicenote said: \u201cMe and Shlomi are right by Gaza, bro. We are seeing it in front of our eyes, we are rounding up the people from the party now, we are on an ATV [quad bike] and we are telling everyone to get the f*** outta there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Friends of Jake's have already begun paying tribute to him. Actor Dom Garfield said in a post to X, formerly Twitter: \u201cJake my brother. My heart is broken. Thank you for being the funny, warm & creative force you were along with the strength & support you offered me in our friendship.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour memory will always be a blessing & I know your final hours were spent supporting our people. I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Best friend L\u00e9a S told Mail Online that Jake had left the UK two years ago over fears about the rise in anti-semitism. L\u00e9a said: \u201cJust before he went to live in Israel, he was really worried about the UK situation with the rise of anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was thinking he should go to Israel because everything that was happening to him in the UK was a lot for him. We were really worried because we know that Jake is someone who is not scared to give his life for another [person].\u201d<\/p>\n

Recent reports revealed that 17 British nationals are missing or have been killed during the Hamas\u2019 attacks on Israel over the weekend. Yesterday the Daily Star reported that Bernard Cowen who lived in Israel with his wife and two children had been \u2018shot dead in his home\u2019, according to his family members.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the UK's Foreign Office said: \u201cWe don't comment on individual consular cases. However we can confirm we are in contact with \u2013 and assisting \u2013 the families of several individuals in Israel and the OPTs. The safety of all British nationals continues to be our utmost priority and we urge everyone to continue to follow our travel advice which is updated regularly.\u201d<\/p>\n
