A NEW cruise ship will offer passengers the opportunity to live on a "floating estate"- and work from home at sea. <\/p>\n

Villa Vie Residences – due to set sail in May 2024 – is selling rooms onboard for \u00a382,000 – which is cheaper than some mortgages.<\/p>\n

The buoyant housing estate will set sale from Southampton and will do a lap of the world every three and a half years, docking in 420 ports in 147 countries across all seven continents.<\/p>\n

Permanent cabins on the cruiser can be brought outright and prices start at \u00a382,180 and rise to a whopping \u00a3205,120.<\/p>\n

For those who aren't confident in their sea legs there is also the option to pay as you go and join the trip for short segments- this costs \u00a373 per day.<\/p>\n

Guests onboard the flashy floater will be treated to live entertainment, multiple dining options, several pools and a business centre with "high speed internet" where they can work from home.<\/p>\n

Described by the company as "floating havens",\u00a0the cabins come in three types\u00a0and all feature a queen-size bed and private bathroom.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Permanent passengers can choose between three options: An Inside Villa, an Oceanview villa or a sprawling Balcony Villa, boasting a 60-sq-ft balcony and 200 sq ft of space inside.<\/p>\n

Additional monthly fees start at \u00a31,441 per person to cover onboard food, drinks and services such as 24\/7 medical support, housekeeping, and a bi-weekly laundry service.<\/p>\n

Cabin owners are able to sell, rent, or live in their room and can have guests onboard for free – they just need to pay fees at the ports.<\/p>\n

Those on the pay-as-you-go option can combine up to 16 segments of the world cruise to create their own bespoke journey – meaning the options are limitless.<\/p>\n

For example, this could include a 87-day cruise across Northern Europe, stopping at 22 countries.<\/p>\n

Or a 47-day cruise\u00a0to "Greenland and Beyond", with stops where guests can visit waterfalls in Quebec, sight see in New York and end with cocktails on the beach in Miami.<\/p>\n

CEO Mikael Petterson said the company aims to "empower travellers to make the world their home".<\/p>\n

He added:\u00a0"Villa Vie Residences is not just a cruise, it's a lifestyle re imagined."<\/p>\n

Additional details of the world voyage by Villa Vie Residences are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

This is not the only residential cruise ship to take to the waters, as permanent cabins can also be bought on Storylines' luxury residential cruise ship,\u00a0MV Narrative, and for the super rich there's\u00a0Somnio, which offers ultra-luxury apartments starting \u00a38.1million.<\/p>\n
