<\/p>\nMCDONALD'S has quietly hiked the price of its iconic \u00a31.99 Big Mac deal with fast food fans crying "cheap lunch is over".<\/p>\n
The chain has upped the amount customers will have to spend when redeeming their Food for Thought codes to \u00a32.99 – a \u00a31 rise.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson confirmed the change came into effect on November 1.<\/p>\n
Under the offer, customers enter a code from their McDonald's receipt on to the chain's website within 60 days of receipt.<\/p>\n
They then have to fill out a survey and are given another code which they can redeem for the meal deal.<\/p>\n
Any customers who completed their survey before November 1 will still be able to claim the \u00a31.99 meal deal.<\/p>\n
Despite the recent \u00a31 hike, customers will still be able to save money compared to buying a Big Mac and fries normally.<\/p>\n The meal usually costs \u00a35.29, so you'll be saving \u00a32.30 through the offer.<\/p>\n Even still, the price change has left some fans fuming.<\/p>\n One said: "\u00a31.99 was good value. \u00a32.99 is too much."<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Another dejectedly said: "Oh, it was awesome while it lasted."<\/p>\n A third added: "My days of taking pictures of customers receipts with a zoom lens for a cheap lunch are all over…"<\/p>\n A fourth said: "First removing student cheeseburgers and now this."<\/p>\n It's not the first time McDonald's has angered foodies in recent months.<\/p>\n The chain left fans fuming in August after dropping its double chocolate pie\u00a0from menus.<\/p>\n The sweet treat was introduced in June, quickly becoming a fan favourite, but it was dropped weeks before its official September 5 end date.<\/p>\n In January, fans were left reeling after the chain removed potato waffles from menus the month before.<\/p>\n But there's been some good news from the chain in recent weeks too.<\/p>\n McDonald's recently shook up its menu, adding seven new items to restaurants on October 18.<\/p>\n Fans can now get their hands on the Philly cheese stack and McCrispy BBQ smokehouse.<\/p>\n Foodies looking for something a bit sweeter can also snap up a toffee apple pie and toffee apple doughnut.<\/p>\n You'll want to be quick though as the new additions are only on the menu until November 21.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Under the Food for Thought offer, McDonald's rewards you for your thoughts and opinions.<\/p>\n You have to fill out a survey offering your customer feedback and the chain gives you a discount on your next meal. But how does it work?<\/p>\n Once you've made a purchase and received your McDonald's receipt, there should a 12 digit code printed on it.<\/p>\n You then have to enter the code on the McDonald's "Food for Thought" website and fill out a quick survey about your recent trip within 60 days.<\/p>\n You then receive a five digit code which is your voucher for the \u00a32.99 offer.<\/p>\n The code can be used at any McDonald's\u00a0branch to get a Big Mac and fries.<\/p>\n You can also use the code to claim different meal deals, including six chicken nuggets and fries or a McChicken Sandwich and fries.<\/p>\n You can also get a side salad with the main item instead of fries.<\/p>\n The full list of items you can grab is on the Maccie's Food for Thought page.<\/p>\n Remember, don't forget to print your receipt if you order from a self-service kiosk in-store.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/crop-24540935.jpg\")
