JLS member Aston Merrygold was able to laugh through his tears in response to a recent backflip gone wrong during one of the group's shows.

A fan captured footage of the 35 year old attempting a backflip off a ledge, but the move didn't go as planned, and Aston instead landed flat on his back.

The video, shared on TikTok with the hashtag '#jlssheffield,' indicated that the incident occurred during a JLS performance in Sheffield.

Despite the mishap, Aston quickly got back on his feet, showing no signs of injury, and seamlessly continued with the choreographed dance routine alongside his bandmates Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, and JB Gill.

Aston addressed the incident humorously in a TikTok video, using a scene from Tom Hardy's film Legend where he plays both Kray twins. The caption read: "Their always here for the down FALL” with a laughing face and a skull emoji, followed by, “Ast – 843,274 backflip – 1."

Fans rushed to the comments to joke about the incident, with one writing: “Just pretend no one saw xo.”

Another added: “It’s the way you fell on time to the beat” with three laughing face emojis.
A third shared their sympathy for the singer, commenting: “I would of sat on the floor crying after that. Really looked like it hurt too can't believe you just got straight back up and carried on.”

A fourth joked: “but have you seen all the aston merryfold comments?” to which Aston responded: “Nah I’m too merry’old to see properly.”

A fifth also commented: “I just know @Marvin Humes ’ got the clip saved ready for your next birthday” with three laughing emojis.

The performance in Sheffield was part of JLS's 2023 tour, and the show marked the final date of their tour.

The band originally shot to fame when they finished second to Alexandra Burke on The X Factor in 2008. The band, whose hits include Beat Again, One Shot and Everybody In Love, later left their fans devastated when they announced they were going on a hiatus in 2013.

Sharing the news of the comeback tour earlier this year on Twitter, they wrote: “The suspense is over… We couldn’t be more excited to announce another UK and Ireland arena tour later this year.”

The band continued: “[The] last time out was totally surreal and we’ve been eagerly awaiting the right time to do it all over again.

“Playing live and seeing our amazing fans is definitely the best part of being JLS!”

Talking to the Sun about the announcement and what fans can expect from the tour, Marvin said: “We’re not just talking about JLS songs, we’ll be playing big records that represent the era that people know us the most from.”
