OutKast<\/b>‘s Andre 3000<\/b> released his debut solo album, New Blue Moon<\/I>, on Friday (November 17) via Epic Records.<\/p>\n
The eight-song instrumental album is a surprise from the rapper, as the record is completely bar-free and has no beats.<\/p>\n
The 87-minute collection of experimental jazz music features jazz musings of co-producer Carlos Nino<\/b>. Surya Botofasina<\/b> plays keyboards and synthesizers, and Nate Mercereau<\/b> plays the guitar. <\/p>\n
Andre 3000 himself plays a variety of wind instruments, including a digital wind instrument, a Maya flute, and others made of wood and bamboo. <\/p>\n
“It’s not like I don’t try or it’s not like I have a lot of these songs just sitting\u2014I have songs but it’s not like rap things that I really feel happy about sharing,” Andre 3000 told NPR<\/I>‘s Rodney Carmichael<\/b> on the “All Songs Considered” podcast. “And really, that’s the most important part.” <\/p>\n
He added, “I have to feel happy about sharing it. That’s why New Blue Sun was something that I realized, whoa, I really want people to hear it. I really want to share it.”<\/p>\n
