Dyson is notorious for not discounting its hair tech. Most of the year, even during big sale periods, the max you can get off a product like the Airwrap is £50 in a Boots Advantage Card deal – but that isn't the case this Black Friday. Though Dyson is yet to announce any discounts on hair electricals, I've just found out about a 'secret' deal that can give you up to 50% off an Airwrap.

Shoppers can save hundreds of pounds by heading to eBay's Dyson Outlet, where refurbished models are being sold at low prices. These pre-loved tools are usually £399.99 here, saving £80 off the RRP of a new Airwrap, but eBay is also offering buyers a further 40% off refurbished Dyson products with the code DYSONBF40.

To make the most of this deal, you need to shop a gadget before December 1st – but that's more than enough time to secure yourself an early Christmas gifting bargain.

The deal, though still relatively unknown, has just hit Facebook's Extreme Couponing & Bargains group to much excitement.

One group member recently posted a grab of a Dyson Corrale hair straightener, captioning it: "Just got these off the Dyson direct website. I actually got the Air Wrap from them last year and not had any problems with it. Comes with accessories."

The comment section of the post is buzzing, with Facebookers tagging in their friends and family to show them the little-known second-hand buying hack. It's also worth noting that if eBay's refurbished page doesn't have the Dyson tool you're looking for, you can also head over to Dyson's own refurbished page here, where you can shop everything from a Corrale for £179.99 (usually £339.99) to a Hot + Cool Fan Heater for £229.99 (usually £399.99 new).

If you've been eyeing up and Airwrap for a while, our OK! Deputy Style Director Zoe says hers gets more use than any other electrical she owns.

Zoe says:

I bought into the Dyson Airwrap hype the second it started. Blowout-like bounce from home? I'm in. I know the initial cost is a lot, but I honestly use it for everything. I use the flyaway attachment to dry and style, I use the round brush to add volume to my roots and I use the barrel attachment to create big waves.

I've read a lot of reviews which state the Airwrap 'doesn't work' on all hair types, and that cheaper tools can create longer-lasting curls. To this I would say yes and no. If you want tight curls and you have slippy hair, or hair's so heavy it barely holds a curl, get a normal curling wand. What the Airwrap offers is smoothing, volume and bounce – all the things I look for.

So, if you're sitting on the fence wondering whether to invest in the tool, I promise it'll be worth your money – especially if you're buying a cheaper refurbished model.
