<\/p>\nA WOMAN who insisted she's "so grateful" for her council house has been slammed by trolls. <\/p>\n
Rachel regularly takes to social media to share pictures and videos of her colourful home, which she has done up on a shoestring budget. <\/p>\n

She recently posted a clip which showed some of her recent DIY improvements on the property, writing over the top of the TikTok video: "You grew up hearing people talk down about council estate houses but you are so grateful for yours."<\/p>\n
"I\u2019ve heard people be pretty negative about council houses, but we have loved turning ours into our home," she added in the caption. <\/p>\n
"I have nothing but good things to say about them (the gardens are huge!)"<\/p>\n
But Rachel's post sparked multiple comments from trolls, many of whom insisted she didn't need a council house if she could afford such a house glow up. <\/p>\n
"If you can afford to do all this, you don\u2019t need a council house," one wrote. <\/p>\n To which Rachel replied: "It\u2019s an ex-council, we own it!"<\/p>\n "Should never be allowed," another added. <\/p>\n "Agreed, how come they get a discount house!!" a third commented. <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n "As someone who grew up in a council house, the way this was communicated is offensive for a few reasons," someone else wrote.<\/p>\n "You're coming from a place of privilege (own it and ex council) so saying you are \u2018grateful\u2019 for it makes no sense whatsoever.<\/p>\n "To be \u2018grateful\u2019 would mean that your grateful you had the opportunity to rent a cheaper home for the council, that\u2019s how I see it."<\/p>\n Others hit back, with one writing: "Sorry, I didn't realise people who lived in council houses weren't allowed to have taste or decorate their homes."<\/p>\n "What an absolutely ridiculous view," another added.<\/p>\n "The people in the comments thinking everyone who owns a council house got a discount, what?" a third commented. <\/p>\n "I\u2019d do anything for a council house," someone else wrote. <\/p>\n With Rachel replying: "I wish they hadn\u2019t sold them all off and people who need them could access them. <\/p>\n "But I\u2019m definitely lucky I had the chance to get ours."<\/p>\n "My daughter lives in an ex council house," another commented. <\/p>\n "It was \u00a3429,000.<\/p>\n "Why does everyone think council means free and\/or cheap?"<\/p>\n "A council house is no different to any other house, it's the neighbours and area that council houses are in that a terrible," someone else wrote. <\/p>\n "Stunning!
