Miriam Margolyes believed the public reaction to Phillip Schofield’s scandal was “venomous”.<\/p>\n
The former This Morning presenter said he is “utterly broken\u201d and feels \u201cembarrassed and ashamed\u201d about his affair with a younger male colleague when news broke back in May.<\/p>\n
The 61-year-old resigned from ITV after admitting to an \u201cunwise but not illegal relationship\u201d with a man.<\/p>\n
Speaking out in a new interview, Miriam Margolyes, 82, blamed the public’s response on cancel culture.<\/p>\n
She told Mail Online she believed the public’s reaction to Phillip’s affair with a younger colleague was “too quick, too venomous, too damaging”.<\/p>\n

People will probably want to cancel me, but they haven\u2019t so far,” Miriam added to the same publication.<\/p>\n The Doctor Who star also revealed what she could say that would get her cancelled.<\/p>\n “F*ck off!” she remarked. “Or the fat thing.”<\/p>\n Miriam is said to have insisted on referring to herself and anyone similarly sized as “fat”.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> In a separate interview with the BBC, Phillip spoke out in June and said that he had \u201clost everything\u201d.<\/p>\n Following the controversy, the presenter said he doubted he would return to a career in TV. “I have to talk about television in the past tense, which breaks my heart,” he said. “I have lost everything.”<\/p>\n “What am I going to do with my days?” Phillip continued. “I see nothing ahead of me but blackness, and sadness, and regret, and remorse, and guilt. I did something very wrong, and then I lied about it consistently.”<\/p>\n Referring to his former colleague, the 61-year-old said: “He is an innocent party here. I was older, I should have known better. [The affair] was consensual, but it was my fault.”<\/p>\n Phillip has since left ITV altogether after departing This Morning in May.<\/p>\n
