Kate Middleton and Prince William have arrived at Buckingham Palace's annual reception to highlight the UK's diplomatic relations and the role of the monarchy within it, as they put on a united front after the ongoing "race row" as a result of Omid Scobie's Endgame book.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, looked spectacularly regal as they posed side by side in photos for the event, which came days after they appeared at the Royal Variety Show at the Royal Albert Hall, with mum-of-three Kate donning a stunning blush pink Jenny Packham gown.

The Royal's dress was adorned in sequins all over, with a waterfall effect of diamond and jewels decorating the collar. The princess then wore an important sash, a dazzling silver tiara and matching statement drop earrings for the evening. Around her waist, a diamond belt adorned her gown and she accessorised with a gold clutch bag.

Kate looked stunning as she wore her brunette locks in a loose and elegant style down her back, and opted for a smokey eye and a slick of nude lipgloss to finish.

The Royal also included a special nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II with a brooch of Her Majesty pinned to her gown. William meanwhile, opted for white tie in a smart suit that also featured his military medals pinned to his lapel. The duo looked every inch the close team as they stood side by side with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The event saw around 500 members of the Diplomatic Corps attend a drinks reception in the Palace's State Rooms. Omid, who is a journalist and said to be friends with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, released his tell-all book last week.

It includes explosive claims about the Royal Family and was pulled from shelves in the Netherlands soon after its release. The move came as a result of reports that the Dutch version included names of two senior royals said to have made comments about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's son Archie's skin tone before he was born.

Piers Morgan then named the royals' names during his TalkTV programme Uncensored on air, but said he didn't believe "any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family". OK! has chosen not to report the names.

Endgame also includes a number of claims about Kate, calling her "cold" and alleging that she works "part time", with the palace press office apparently covering up her low workload by saying she is "keen to learn".

The diplomatic event at the Palace would be the first public event William, Kate and the King and Queen would have to talk about the fall-out from the book's release.

Sources have claimed that the family are in "no rush" to make a decision about how to respond, but when they do it will be "carefully considered," according to the Daily Mail.
