TOWIE’s Tommy Mallet quits his trainer empire as he says ‘don’t be afraid to start again’
Tommy Mallet has quit his trainer empire following eight years as co-founding director.
The former The Only Way is Essex star, 31 co-founded his shoe business Mallet London in 2015 with his early success being shown on the ITV show. It has now been confirmed that Tommy left his business on 31 October after eight thriving years.
The co-founding director took to Instagram on Friday to share the news of his departure and posted a lengthy caption alongside a snap which saw him sitting in front of his company sign. Tommy wrote: "I never thought I’d be sitting here writing this, but with it now being public knowledge through news articles I have to address."
He continued: "On the 31st of October I stood down from my role at Mallet London, the company I love and always will do, for many reasons, the main one being I feel it’s important to grow in life and not stay still, I’ve done all I set out to accomplish with this brand, and I’m forever grateful for what I’ve learnt and who I’ve met along the way!
"I love you all involved (even the ones I’ve been in legal battles with) because without you I wouldn’t be who I am today and wouldn’t be prepared for what’s in front of me in my journey! I’ve learnt a lot this year and the main lesson for me is no matter what don’t be scared to start again if it’s something you believe in, I still own the company and I’ve left it in good hands!
"I want it to strive and I’m excited to see what’s next for it under another direction… I always wanted to leave on a high and for me it doesn’t get much better than Reebok!"
Tommy ended the post by saying: "Team I love you dearly! And thank you for everything I wouldn’t of been here without you and also a massive thank you to Evren to sharing my vision and going through the madness with me! Ciao for now, the best is yet to come."
The shoe brand is available to buy in 60 retailers across 12 countries, which includes Selfridges, Flannels, Tessuti, Canada's Hudson Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue in the US. There is one store located in Carnaby Street, London which opened a few years ago in 2021.
A year later on 22 June, the business won the Team of the Year award at the Drapers Footwear Awards 2023. It has been reported that former Hunter Boots, Jigsaw and Canterbury CEO Christopher Stephenson has taken over as Mallet London's director.
Earlier this year Tommy returned to TOWIE for the first time since he left in 2021 as he supported his friend Dan Edgar, 33. Tommy and his fiancée Georgia Kousoulou, 32, both left TOWIE in 2021 to prepare for the arrival of their son.
Following on from the birth of baby Brody, Tommy took some time away from social media, and his fans became concerned, but he was quick to reassure them. He told them that he was on "cloud nine" and focusing on a number of other things in his life.
Tommy explained his life was good, saying: "Try hitting the reset button. Work hard in silence, let the results do the talking." The couple started their own ITV show called Georgina and Tommy: Baby Steps, which followed the couple as they embarked on parenthood. There have now been four series of the programme, following the family through the highs and lows of parenting.
