The world's best airline set to launch new flights from the UK | The Sun

A NEW holiday destination is set to be on the cards for Brits thanks to a new flight route launching next year.

Singapore Airlines has confirmed that the new route will operate from an airport in London.

According to Travel Gossip, the flag carrier is set to launch flights from London Gatwick to Singapore Changi International Airport from next year.

Five weekly flights will depart from London Gatwick at 10.15am, arriving in Singapore at 6.20am the following day, with a flight time of 13 hours.

The early arrival into Singapore will give passengers the ability to "seamlessly" transfer onto connecting flights to southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, according to the airline.

Flights from London Gatwick to Singapore will depart from March 2024.

Earlier this year, Singapore Airlines was named the best airline in the world by Skytrax, a company that rates air transport.

Skytrax independently analysed the performance of 325 of the biggest airlines in the world from September 2022 until May 2023.

In the rankings, Singapore Airlines took the top spot, scoring highly for its first-class cabin.

Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: "It is a fabulous achievement for Singapore Airlines to achieve this World’s Best Airline title for 2023.

Singapore Airlines isn't the only airline opening new routes from the UK to holiday destinations across the globe.

British Airways will be resuming flights from London Stansted for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The flag carrier has confirmed that three new routes will depart from the London airport, with prices starting at £36 for a one-way ticket.

Budget airline Ryanair is launching flights to Spain, Portugal, and Malta, from Norwich Airport.

As it stands, the airport only serves a handful of foreign destinations, which means the Ryanair expansion is great news for holidaymakers in East Anglia.
