I transformed a boring £10 cake into a dinosaur spectacle for my son's birthday using B&M bargains, it only took 10 mins | The Sun
A SAVVY mum transformed a boring £10.99 cake into a dinosaur spectacle for her son's birthday using bargains from B&M and IKEA.
Eilidh Wells, from Glasgow, regularly shares her parenting tips and family trips on social media (@eilidhwells).
In one video, she revealed how parents can save cash when it comes to their children's birthday cakes.
Rather than paying a bakery to create a dinosaur-themed treat for her little boy, Eilidh decided to give it a go for herself.
The mum of two picked up a £10.99 chocolate fudge cake from Costco which she then decorated with biscuits and cookies.
She also bought toy dinosaurs from B&M to sit on top of the cake, before cutting some branches off an artificial IKEA plant to complete the look.
Showing off the results, she said: "The EASIEST birthday cake to throw together.
"This is the £10.99 Costco cake with some wafer rolls stuck into the edges from Home Bargains, some dinosaurs from B&M, some artificial leaves and crushed cookies."
She added: "This took 10 mins max to put together and he was so happy with it.
"Plus then they get some new dinosaurs to play with."
