Fear of being sentenced to ‘death by Ginger Gooch’ soars after judge’s promotion
Immature social media users have been left in cruel hysterics following the announcement of a new judge.
The Missouri Supreme Court in the US announced yesterday (October 30) the appointment of the Honourable Ginger Gooch, 47 as its newest member. She was appointed by Republican Governor Mike Parson as she filled the vacancy of the outgoing Judge Patricia Breckenridge.
Parson’s office said the “appointment cements a female majority on Missouri’s highest court for the first time in state history”. Speaking of Gooch, who for almost 15 years she worked as at Husch Blackwell LLP in Springfield, Parson said: “Judge Gooch has known the value of hard work her whole life. She is a loving mother, dedicated wife, and proud woman of faith who we know will make a great addition to our state’s highest court.

“With her appointment, our third to the Court, we have truly reshaped the makeup of the Missouri Supreme Court for decades to come.” That appointment ensures a female majority of the bench.
However, despite excitement in the Missouri State Capitol around the appointment, online people have been a little less kind about her name. One person joked: “You have been sentenced to death by ginger gooch” – although it must be noted it is unlikely Missouri’s capital punishment verdicts would be initially handed down by a Supreme Court judge.
That was a common theme, however: “Imagine getting sentenced to death by ginger gooch”.
“Just woke my wife up to tell her this woman's name,” another added. Going for a dramatic change of direction, another person wrote: “The Honorable Ginger Gooch would be an incredible name for a judgmental basset hound”.
