Greeley police officers shoot male suspect in Wedgewood Court investigation
Greeley police officers exchanged gunfire with an armed man late Friday night, leading to injuries to the suspect and an officer, according to a news release from a response team handling the investigation.
Greeley officers were conducting an investigation at 11:55 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Wedgewood Court when they encountered the man. He fired at the officers, according to police, and they returned fire.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment. An officer was injured, but the injuries were not life-threatening.
The news release does not describe any of the suspect’s actions prior to the shooting. The release says the investigation is ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time.
The Weld County Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation. The team is comprised of members of different Weld County law enforcement agencies and investigates shootings involving police.
