Snakes on a plane? No – fish tank on a train! Bemused passengers spot fellow commuter holding live fish on East Coast Main Line railway
- The bizarre image was captured on board a train during the summer this year
- The tank was full of water and came complete with live fish swimming inside
Passengers on board an East Coast Main Line railway were left bemused after spotting a fellow commuter with a full fish tank on board, plugged into one of the sockets on the train to power the air filter.
Images show an unnamed commuter balancing the tank on a folding table while on board the train over the summer.
The tank was full of water and came complete with live fish inside, leaving fellow commuters amused by the unusual item on board.
It’s not clear where the passenger, who cannot be seen in the image, was travelling to or from.
The picture shows the glass tank balanced carefully on the commuters folding table and their lap in a spacious window seat to accommodate the bizarre item.

A fellow passenger, who snapped the image in June of this year, shared it online writing: ‘You’ve heard of snakes on a plane – now get ready for fish tank on a train.
‘I thought ‘full respect’, to be honest’, they added.
‘I’ve seen people take cats and dogs on the train, but he’s got the tank running, the air is pumping round. He’s looking after the fish.
‘He just had the fish tank with him balanced on the little table and plugged into the socket.
‘I did think this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen on the train.’
