Gary Busey may have to retake driver's test after MULTIPLE incidents
Gary Busey, 79, may have to retake driver’s test after being involved in MULTIPLE car accidents in the past few years
- Gary Busey, 79, is being investigated after a woman accused him of hit-and-run
- The woman sped after Busey’s Volvo yelling at him to stop over the alleged crash as Busey sped off grinning and playing The Beach Boys’ ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’
- Local law enforcement in Malibu is reviewing the issue and might forward it to the DMV, where Busey would have to pass driving tests
Authorities in Malibu, California are reviewing the recent incident in which Gary Busey was accused of a hit-and-run, and could mandate 79-year-old actor to re-take his driver’s test as a result.
Police sources told TMZ on Monday that officials are ‘strongly leaning toward submitting paperwork to the DMV’ that would force Busey, a Malibu resident, to retake the test.
The incident that occurred weeks back is the latest in a line of instances in which the Celebrity Apprentice alum appeared to display ‘poor driving habits,’ law enforcement sources told the outlet, which factors into the decision of a potential re-test.
Busey is currently being investigated for an August 30 incident in which a woman accused him of crashing into her car with his Volvo in the 23000 block of Pacific Coast Highway near the pier, then speeding off.
Busey drove off, the woman claimed, and she followed him and filmed the chase.

She yelled at him to pull over, and when he eventually did she confronted him.
‘You hit my car,’ she shouts, as he turns to look at her and grins. ‘I need your information. Sir! You hit my car!’
It is unclear if she recognized the actor, who was nominated for the Oscar for 1978’s The Buddy Holly Story. He also starred in the original of A Star Is Born, and the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze classic Point Break.
Busey has been in the headlines in recent years for his wild antics: he was accused of groping at least three women during a film convention in August 2022.
A day later he was photographed sitting on a Malibu bench with his hands down his pants, seemingly pleasuring himself in broad daylight, in full public view.
In the August 30 footage, Busey eventually gets out of his car, but refuses to give the woman his insurance details.
‘It’ll be wiped out,’ he tells her, seemingly referencing damage to their cars. His Volvo had scratches and a large dent in the front bumper, while hers had scratches to the back.
‘It doesn’t matter – that’s not how this works,’ she replies, audibly angry and distressed, in footage from TMZ. ‘You hit my car, you have scuffs all over your car.’

Busey then says: ‘Progressive insurance.’
She replies: ‘I want the number, I want your information.’
The actor, getting back into his car, says: ‘No, no. I’m private.’
He starts the engine, and turns his car around to drive away, playing The Beach Boys song Wouldn’t It Be Nice, and laughing.
‘Sir! You don’t get to just leave hitting someone!’ she pleads as Busey drives off.
The woman called police, and an investigation was opened. Under state law, leaving the scene of a minor collision can qualify as a misdemeanor.
It is not the first crash Busey has been involved in.
In 2015, close to the spot of the August 30 incident, Busey reversed out of a parking spot and hit a woman.
She was treated at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department and released.

And in 1988, he nearly died after crashing off his Harley Davidson without a helmet.
‘I hit the concrete going 45 miles per hour,’ he told David Letterman the year after the accident.
‘I hit a little sand and gravel, fish-tailed, hit my rear brake, and I smashed into the concrete, and I don’t remember seven weeks of my life. I was in the hospital for two months. I’d split my skull, scraped the temple side of my brain.’
The accident left his left eye permanently disfigured and also significantly changed his personality.
His son Jake, now 51, said the accident made him ‘more impulsive and prone to anger and delusions of grandeur,’ according to a 2019 Hollywood Reporter profile.
‘He was a vegetable in a wheelchair staring at the wall,’ said Jake. ‘At 17, I had to teach him with my mom to talk, to eat, to feed himself. To walk again. To write. That was very difficult for me at that age.
‘The post-accident version of him turned his personality up to 11. I feel like I lost my dad on December 4, 1988.’
The Hollywood Reporter profile detailed his lack of filter, following the accident.
They reported that while being photographed for the magazine, he asked a slim male photo assistant: ‘Did you used to be a woman? You came out great.’
He then told a female hairstylist: ‘If you’re not having fun, I have something for you to have fun: I’ll tickle you till you pee.’

Busey previously faced drug charges in 1995 when authorities found cocaine during a search of his Malibu home.
He was charged with one count of cocaine possession and three counts of possession of marijuana, possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms and being under the influence of cocaine.
In the past he has also been arrested on charges of spousal abuse.
In 2011, during a season of Celebrity Apprentice, he was accused of sexually assaulting a female employee of the show.
‘We were smoking cigarettes outside, and Busey was standing next to me,’ an employee told the Daily Beast in 2016. ‘And then at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts.
‘I didn’t know what to do. So I made this joke that, ‘Oh, I’ve never been sexually harassed by a celebrity before!’ Then he grabbed my hand and put it [over] his penis, and said, like, ‘I’m just getting started, baby.”
In August of 2022, his spokesman claimed that the actor perhaps needed to relieve himself – which was why he was caught on camera with his pants round his ankles, his hands buried in his crotch.
‘Gary often sits on the bench in front of his home to meditate and look at the ocean,’ said a spokesperson.
They told Page Six: ‘Our only guess is that perhaps at his age, he realized he couldn’t get to the bathroom in time which explains what happened in the video of him on the bench.’
Seemingly unaware that he was in full public view, the actor lowered his pants and sat on a bench with his hand between his legs.
His representative said Busey was on private property, but he was in full view of the public.
Busey was filmed making his way to a bench at the lookout point, where he sat down, pulled out his phone and then pulled down his pants.
Busey stuck one hand down the front of his pants, appeared to clench his jaw and then looked around to make sure no bystanders had caught him in the lewd act.
Seemingly satisfied with his actions, Busey lit up a cigar and looked out over the ocean for nearly 30 minutes before getting back in his car and leaving the park.
The day before, he was charged with four counts of sexual contact and harassment after multiple women accused him of indecent conduct at a New Jersey horror movie convention.
The case is believed to be pending.
The charges stem from offenses that are alleged to have occurred at the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, NJ, police said.
Cherry Hill Police say three women were touched by Busey inappropriately during an autograph signing and meet and greet.

‘It was about contact. It was about touching,’ Cherry Hill Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann told the Philadelphia Inquirer, noting that ‘multiple complaints’ about the actor’s conduct had been received throughout the weekend.
Busey had to be removed from a portion of the event after he was seen groping women, according to Fox 29.
Police initially did not identify the suspect as the actor, but followed up with a statement saying that Busey was the man facing charges.
At the convention Busey was said to be appearing alongside other actors including Ralph Macchio, Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright.
A lawyer for the convention, Nikitas Moustakas, said the convention company was ‘assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving attendees and a celebrity guest at its convention.’
‘Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendees, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return,’ he said.
‘Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report. The safety and well-being of all our attendees is of the utmost importance to Monster-Mania, and the company will not tolerate any behavior that could compromise those values.’ Busey called the allegations lies.
‘It took less than 10 seconds and they left,’ he said of the meeting at the Monster-Mania convention. ‘Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually.’
He added that ‘nothing happened’ and ‘it was all false,’ he told TMZ, in video footage shot at a gas station.
