Strictly’s Dianne Buswell worries fans as she hints at struggle in personal life

Dianne Buswell has sparked fan fears over her emotionally turbulent time while juggling her Strictly Come Dancing commitments with worries for her cancer-stricken father. However, the 34-year-old went on to share that dance partner Bobby Brazier has brought “calmness” into her “crazy” life.

Dianne’s Dad Mark was diagnosed with cancer in the midst of the BBC show, while she and her EastEnders star dance partner were achieving rave reviews. “I am such a hard-working, crazy dancer that it’s been a really nice balance, where Bobby has brought a lot of calmness into my life,” she told Heat magazine.

“There has been quite a lot going on in my personal life over these past few months, and Bobby has been really realistic and supportive, telling me everything’s going to be OK. It’s crazy that such a young guy can have such a good mind on him.”

Bobby, 20, has also gushed that Dianne has become a “sister” to him. The dancer had been expecting her dad to come to the UK this month to watch her perform on Strictly, before spending Christmas with her at the Sussex mansion she shares with YouTuber boyfriend Joe Sugg.

However, a cancer diagnosis changed all that and the already gruelling journey – almost 19 hours flying time from Perth to London – became impossible. Dianne shared her anguish at the huge distance on Instagram recently, telling her 980,000 followers: “Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week.”

She subsequently shared an update showing her father in hospital bravely receiving his first round of chemotherapy, telling him: “I’m so proud of you, dad.”

Dianne continued: “I wish I could be there to hold your hand and support you in person… but I do know that I’m making you so proud over here in my concert every week!

“The Australian nurses and [doctors] are now very aware of Strictly Come Dancing as my dad won’t stop talking about it!” she joked.

Last week, both her parents should have been in the audience to watch her musical-themed quarter-finals show.

However, she lightened the mood with a joke, quipping that her handsome father’s looks might have disrupted her Dirty Dancing routine and upstaged her partner.

“Dad says it’s a good thing he [couldn’t come] because back in the day my dad’s nickname was Patrick Swayze as he looked so similar to him and dad didn’t want the attention off Bobby!” she told followers.

Dianne has urged fans to give her dad a “thought or prayer” if they can, while she also roots for him to return to good health.

Meanwhile, she and Bobby continue to battle their way towards the coveted Glitterball trophy, with everything to play for in the remaining two weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing is back on Saturday at 7:35pm on BBC One.
