I discovered the cheapest day out with my kids ever – we had multiple activities & delicious food for less than a fiver | The Sun
A SAVVY mum-of-two has revealed how she had a fun day out with her kids whilst also not forking out a fortune.
Mum Hanna, from Southampton, Hampshire, shared the ideas on TikTok, as thousands of parents across the UK are struggling to make ends meet.
The school holidays are supposed to be a fun time – but for many the six-weeks break also come with financial stress.
Like a large group of fellow parents, Hanna, mum to Darcie and Ernie, has also found her bank account ''struggling'' – but despite this, she was determined to make the most out of the last few summer days.
''My car is broken, my house is a mess and that little voice in my head is saying 'You haven't done enough with the kids','' she opened up in the video.
The savvy mum had set herself a goal ''to spend as little money as possible and just do as many lovely things as we could''.

The three jumped on a bus and the first stop was at a local art gallery – an activity that cost Hanna absolutely nothing.
''They really enjoyed looking around, there was this whole section around portraits.
''The kids got to sit and do their own self-portrait, which they really enjoyed.''
Once done, the family set to visit a library – yet another great and educational idea that was totally free.

After a bit of drawing and playing in the park, where the sun was shining, Hanna and her kids went to indulge in some scrumptious food.
For this, the mum took them to Bill's – just one of the many eateries that offer cheap kids' meals during the term holidays.
Whilst Hanna was enjoying a latte, her kids had a stack of pancakes with some fruit and syrup – and this was just £3.95.
''They just absolutely loved it.''
The total cost of the cute day out, she added in the video, came to a little over £17, including the bus tickets.
''They said it was the best day ever,'' the mum revealed, adding that ''having a good day together doesn't have to cost a lot of money''.
