MOST of us fork out a fortune to improve the condition of our hair – but according to one beauty whizz, the secret hack is using a common 80p product.

Instead of spending hundreds to achieve enviable locks, cash-savvy Viktoria Imre, from Canada, uses an affordable cupboard essential that's packed with heaps of nutritients to feed your hair.

Not one to gatekeep, the natural beauty lover revealed how a homemade flaxseed gel was the answer to incredibly shiny and silky hair.

As well as keeping your hair stronger and healthier-looking, flaxseed gel and oil are said to also help with controlling frizz and adding much-needed hydration – a must as the weather gets colder.

The ancient seed, which is often used in baking, as well as chucked in your morning smoothie, boasts a number of properties, such as Omega 3 acids, protein, vitamin E and vitamin B.

All of these, as well as selenium and magnesium, are vital for hair health and growth.

“Flaxseed gel helps hair grow faster and longer by providing nourishment to the hair follicles,” explained Celeste Arnold, senior stylist and owner of Celeste Arnold Hair and Makeup.

“The presence of vitamin E in flaxseed provides nutrition to the scalp and reduces free radical damage.

“Flaxseed is rich in vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids,” Arnold said in a chat with Healthline.
