Couple who died after getting trapped in car on flooded UK road are pictured
The couple who tragically died after getting trapped inside their car on a flooded road have been named locally and pictured.
Merseyside Police were called after reports of concern for the safety of a man and a woman inside a black Mercedes on Queens Drive in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, at around 9.20pm on Saturday (August 26).
Emergency services found them trapped inside the car. They were rushed to hospital but sadly pronounced dead, and their next of kin were informed.

The Liverpool Echo reports they have been named locally as married couple Philip and Elaine Marco.
Liverpool City Council said Queens Drive will remain closed for sometime while an investigation takes place. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area.
Paying tribute to the couple, one friend said: "Terrible tragedy with the passing of our dear friends, Philip & Elaine Marco. May Hashem heal the torn hearts of their children and grandchildren. A huge loss to our community."
Another said: "Baruch Dayan HaEmet. My thoughts and prayers are with their family and the whole community."
A third said: "RIP Elaine and Philip xxx."
There have also been messages of condolence left by people unconnected to the couple from across the region.
Debbie Mills said: "Terribly, terribly sad reading this, it's been flooding for years. Absolutely horrific for the two people who have sadly lost their lives, just awful."
Moria Berry King said: "This is awful. Those poor people must have been so scared, god bless them. Deepest condolences to their families and friends. Rest in Peace."
Katy Koo said: "So sad. This should never have happened – it has been a known spot for flooding for years. RIP."
Viv Sinnott said: "Dreadfully sad. RIP. Thinking of their family and friends. What a devastating time for them."
Debbie King Hunt said: "Thoughts with the families of these two so tragic."
Joanna Pennington said: "How heartbreaking. My condolences to all affected by this tragedy."
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of the man and woman who sadly lost their lives in this tragic incident, despite the best efforts of passing members of the public, our officers and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services at the scene.
“We are at the early stages of an ongoing investigation on Queens Drive to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident. Road closures remain in the area as we continue with this investigation and motorists are advised to avoid the road.
“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who was on Queens Drive, between North Mossley Hill Road and Dovedale Road at around 9.20pm last night and saw the accident, or who stopped to try help or anyone who had any dashcam footage from their car to come forward as soon as possible.
“Similarly, if you live in the area and have any doorbell or CCTV footage from last night please share this with us. Thank you for your patience whilst we deal with this tragic incident.”
